I find that difficult to believe since most reviews are created by the masses, and because I have been using their reviews for many years to make purchases and have never found falt. What facts do you have to back that up?

I ride a Specialized Hard Rock Sport Disk 29er, I love it. I sometimes forget to get in the right gear climbing, and when you want to turn it, you are turning those handlebars all the way.

What is often amusing is when someone on a 26er wants to race in a straight line (i.e. the Boyette service road) its not even funny. If I am standing on it in top gear, they are not catching me.

Another fun thing is that you can run 700c road tires on them when you have to be away from the dirt for a while.

Do you find it easier to climb on, say Ridgeline? I assume that you have more momentum on the way up after, say OMG or the like. How does it feel on those big downhills? Right now, I feel very comfortable going down anything full-speed on Ridgeline on my 26.
I'll also assume from your comment that the tight, technical turns are more difficult, as in the more difficult sections of Rollercoaster.

you can do that on a 26" bike with a 700c wheelset.

I am with you there and I have a 1x10 bring on the hard rock

Well, sorta depends.....I have a bigger 3rd cog too since I like to ride roadz from time to time.

I do pay for it if I am in the wrong gear climbing some of the bigger hills on Ridgeline, but once the big hoops get rolling, they are pretty easy to keep up to speed.

depends on what you are looking at... pretty obvious we are not reviewing the same items.

The climbs on Ridgeline that aren't momentum climbs are just like everything else, pick a gear and pedal! A bad riding 29'er isn't gonna feel any better than a bad riding 26'er. Some bikes are just gonna ride better, fit better for you. Just because it's a 29'er doesn't mean it's gonna be a great bike. Get out and ride a few.
 
FWIW a buddy of mine had a Spesh hardtail '9er and rode my Evolve and loved it. He then rented a Gary Fischer FS '9er on a trip out to Vegas and hated that bike. This guy is the biggest tightwad I know when it comes to bikes, he'll buy anything cheap he can find, and sell it a few months later because he doesn't like it. Rinse and repeat. He liked my Evolve so much that he dropped the coin to buy an Ellsworth Glimpse brand new.

And my wife's 2009 Gary Fisher Hi-Fi Plus 29er (which she really likes).
Of course, it helps to use a little common sense when reading the reviews to see how other's comments will relate to you.
