Here's an idea - grow a set and run a single speed - ENTIRE derailleur issue solved ;)

Oh wow!  Haven't had the old 'single speed rules' post in a while!  Thanks for your contribution!  While I'm at it, I might as well just get a custom steel 29r  ::)

There's a couple...Kona actually makes (or made) the Cowan DS which is a full suspension, single speed dirt jump frame.  The main pivot is cocentric around the bottom bracket so you don't have to worry about chain growth or any tensioners attached to the rear dropout.  In theory, you could run any of a couple of the jack-shaft (BMW, Superco, etc) DH frames singlespeed though I don't know why you would.

- grow a set and run a single speed -

This is coming from the guy that lied about what he was able to make cleanly at Alafia, until he was called out on it by Catman.

Isn't lying against one of your commandments?

In theory this bike can be run single speed (due to the placement of the chainweel being co-centric with the main pivot) - http://cgi.ebay.com/BROOKLYN-MACHINE-WORKS-downhill-freeride-MINI-LINK_W0QQitemZ150363327770QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMountain_Bikes?hash=item23025a4d1a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14[/]

I have a soft spot in my heart for the BMW link bikes...really cool designs.

The guy that designed the link bikes has moved on to a new company, Superco, and it making a modern version of the bike - http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214662&highlight=superco

I've got a used Shimano XT rear derailleur left over from the Frankenbike that I'll let go for $40 (needs repair). Some dude named bill donated it  ;D

Never claimed to "clean" alafia - only Gatorback (although not in it's present condition), bridges, north creek, rollercoaster and moonscape (with the exception of the doom entrance).  And catman never called me out...get your facts straight before you start spewing garbage ;)

I think the we are deviating from the OP's message. An order has been placed for the X7 rear derailleur and a replacement dropout - yay! Now we all can get back to riding those beloved trails.

Bill - If you need derailleur help - save yourself $20-25 at the LBS and I will do it for free (as long as I have the required tools on hand...).
