Well I am a little vertically challenged compared to you(who isn't ;D)but at my height, weight, bone mass, water content etc: I need a daily intake of around 4000 calories to maintain my current studlyness :D You might look into one of the scales with the body fat analysis function as they give you all this feedback. While they are probably a little inaccurate, it provides more feedback for you to fine tune your program :)

The only problem with the scales that tell you your body fat % is that they use the same principle as the BMI (Body Mass Index). The flaw that I don't like about that is that it doesn't account for muscle and bone.
An example: An athletic person that weighs 200 lbs and is 6 feet tall. His Body fat % is 8%. But according to the BMI index he is a 27 which is considered overweight.

An unathletic person weighing 180 lbs and is 6 feet tall. (Never excercises) His actual body fat % is 20%. According to the BMI he is a 24 which is considered normal weight.
The index was used by some Fire and police depts. to measure health for a while. But after several lawsuits they dropped the BMI. A friend of mine is a triathlete, he's very muscular and has less than 5% fat. But his BMI is almost 30. So he failed the department physical. Luckily he appealed and won.
Bottom line is to not take to much from the scales.

Yeah, some scales are better than others. The one I own allows me to use an athlete option, with it I am around 10% which matches a caliper test. With out inserting the athlete option I am in the 20's :'( So while not perfect, it will allow you to establish a baseline for yourself and is another tool to help to get where you are going. :)

So I found some info on nutrition intake - specifically dealing with calories (energy), carbohydrates (fuel), and hydration - and how much should be consumed and especially, when...

http://www.velonews.com/train/articles/7570.0.html

and the follow-up article covers different food groups and some more "training diet" specifics:

If you like ice cream you might try Sherbet. For a 1/2 cup serving it has 100 calories, 1 gram fat, and 25 grams of carbs.
If you don't crash occassionaly, you're not riding hard enough!!

I cut calories in other areas so that I can enjoy ice cream.  :-)
